artSIG version 2.0 beta 6 (March 7, 2003)

This beta version is the release candidate.

New or improved features

  • Premium members can now invite others to artSIG.
  • Basic members can now upgrade to Premium Memberships, and Premium Members can extend their memberships, using a Premium Membershp pass code.
  • Premium members can request forwarding of internal mail to their personal email account.
  • The Terms of Service page is now working.
  • The password request feature now works.
  • Additional profanity checking has been added.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed the edit critique page title.
  • Fixed checkboxes to allow the box to be checked or unchecked by clicking on the text.
  • Fixed the error that appeared when a user entered an invalid account name in the mail message form.

artSIG version 2.0 beta 5 (March 5, 2003)

This version includes many bug fixes. It is the penultimate beta version. Beta 6, the last beta version, will introduce the features and restrictions that differentiate Basic from Premium Memberships, after which artSIG will be ready to exit beta testing.

New or improved features

  • Work critique ratings page changed slightly.
  • Administrative lock and unlock capability added.
  • Works older than 72 hours can now be withdrawn.
  • Individual user pages now display critiques.
  • Individual user pages now display discussions.
  • New Work Critiques page under the Works tab allows browsing of all critiques in the system.
  • Sorting capability added to individual user works and portfolio pages.
  • Help is now working.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug which allowed unqualified critiques to count toward a work's total rating.
  • Fixed the "Submit a new work" link on the My Works page.
  • Fixed the "Replace submission" link on the New Work page.
  • Fixed the link to the work in the New Critiques Received section of the mySIG page.
  • The My Works and My Work Critiques page now display the correct number of works or critiques.
  • The number of discussions for a user is now updated after the user starts a new discussion.
  • Unqualified work critiques no longer have links to the work critique ratings page on the My Work Critiques and mySIG pages.
  • Fixed the "Return to work" link on the work critique ratings page to work correctly if the page is accessed from the My Work Critiques or mySIG pages.

artSIG version 2.0 beta 4 (February 28, 2003)

This version adds support for deletion and also introduces new mySIG pages. Not many bugs have been addressed in this version.

New or improved features

  • Users can now delete works, work critiques, discussions, and replies.
  • New My Works page displays a user's works in a table format.
  • New My Work Critiques page displays a user's critiques in a table format and allows the user to determine why critiques failed to qualify.
  • New My Discussions page displays a user's discussions in a table format.
  • Premium Members now have their own icon.
  • Privacy policy now online.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed the annoying "Choose at least 1 and up to 1 selection" message.

artSIG version 2.0 beta 3 (February 17, 2003)

This version is a refactoring version, and not much in the way of new functionality has been added. However, some features that have existed in the user interface but not in the back end have been finished.

New or improved features

  • Critique qualifier changed to allow a certain number of short or uninteresting critiques, to check critiques against other critiques of the same work, and to be a little less strict regarding overall critique length.
  • Added preview function to all entry fields that accept HTML.
  • Added the ability for IE 4.0+, Netscape 4.0+, Mozilla, and Opera 6.01+ users to use the Editize HTML editor applet.
  • User now directed to an error page, rather than the main page, when an authentication error occurs.
  • Critique ratings now work.

Bug fixes

  • "Delete and warn" (an administrative function) no longer appears for non-administrators.
  • Incorrect sign-in failure message fixed.
  • Problems with forms being submitted multiple times have been eliminated.

artSIG version 2.0 beta 2 (February 10, 2003)

Critical bug-fix release.

Bug fixes

  • Time zone corrected (now New York instead of Los Angeles).
  • Correct error message displayed when user does not select a file to upload.
  • Correct error message displayed when user uploads a file that is too large.
  • Correct error message displayed when user uploads a file that is not in a supported format.
  • Fixed the problem with {3} and {4} appearing in the email sent to Premium Membership gift recipients.
  • Multiple work submissions in the same session now work properly.
  • In the forums, the system now directs the user back to the discussion thread after the user saves a reply.
  • File code for works now being generated properly (caused works to disappear in beta 1).
  • Users are no longer redirected to the Religion category in the forums.

artSIG version 2.0 beta 1 (February 9, 2003)

The first version of artSIG is version 2.0. The previous version was the system that is, as of this writing, running on photoSIG as version 1.15f.

Missing or incomplete features

  • General: No help.
  • General: No indication of items that are new.
  • General: Count of new items does not decrease as items are viewed.
  • General: Some input controls that accept HTML do not have preview buttons.
  • Main: No featured artist.
  • Works: No Last Chance Critic feature.
  • Works: Ratings of critiques are not yet implemented.
  • Articles: Incomplete.
  • Users: Main users page not present.
  • Users: Can't view a user's critiques.
  • Users: Can't view a user's discussions.
  • mySIG: No way to create or delete mail folders or to move messages between mail folders.
  • mySIG: No display of works.
  • mySIG: No display of critiques.
  • mySIG: No display of discussions.
  • mySIG: No ability to check membership status or invite new users.

Known bugs

  • General: Dark body areas of some pages do not extend to the bottom of the page.
  • General: Many pages have "Return to the previous page" links at the bottom, but these links do not always take the user to the previous page.
