Art Sites

photoSIG
http://www.photosig.com

photoSIG is artSIG's sister site and is focuses on photography. Although artSIG also includes photography, photoSIG categorization system is more specific to photography. For example, photoSIG allows users to specify the camera, lens, film, etc., used for each photo, while artSIG has no such ability. The articles and forums on photoSIG are also specific to photography.

d'ART
http://www.fine-art.com

d'ART is an active art site that includes many active forums (including forums for individual artists) and also features a well-designed art marketplace through which artists can sell their works to the public.

deviantART
http://www.deviantart.com

deviantART is a site that is similar to artSIG, only larger in scope, encompassing skins and other types of software in addition to pure art. It is a very large site and can be difficult to navigate, but there is a lot of material on it.

FolioPlanet
http://www.folioplanet.com

An unusually well-designed site, FolioPlanet is essentially a directory of artists. There are a lot of sites that offer this functionality, but not many are this nicely done.

theispot.com
http://www.theispot.com

theispot.com bills itself as an artist showcase. Unlike FolioPlanet, which primarily provides links to other web sites, theispot.com hosts artist portfolios directly. Portfolios are searchable by many criteria. The design of this web site is also very good.

Race 2004

A friend of mine has created the Race 2004 web site, which tracks the results of US presidential polls in every state and displays the current expected outcome of the election on a beautiful color-coded map. You can click on each state to view the poll history. It's a very nicely done site.
