After graduating in England, Jeremy
worked as; a Town Planner in UK; a Geologist in East Africa and Australia; an
Information Technology executive in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth; and as Director
of IT consulting for Ernst & Young.
He studied for the
Diploma of Art at the Claremont School of Art, in Perth.
In
1994 he held his first solo exhibition of Pilbara landscapes at Woodside
Petroleum in Perth and in Karratha. Since then he has had highly successful
annual exhibitions at galleries in Perth as well as exhibiting in Melbourne,
Adelaide, Broome, Yallingup, Mandurah, Cairns and the USA.
His paintings have
proved to be popular with publishers and are used in book covers published by
the Australian Broadcasting Commission, Michigan University Press and CD albums.
Lloyd Rees, Van Gogh, Bonnard, Klimt, the
Fauvres, Lucian Freud, Arthur Boyd, Sidney Nolan, John Perceval and Fred
Williams have
influenced Jeremy.
Despite a wide range of techniques and
approaches to painting, Jeremys work is immediately recognisable due to his
strong style. He works mainly in oil on canvas but also uses oil pastels and
inks on paper.
Jeremy's subject matter
is mainly landscapes/townscapes, which capture the colours and contrasts of
Australia, together with some nudes and flower studies.
Jeremy's work is
represented in many private and public collections, both in Australia and
internationally.
In March 1995 he
established the first commercial art gallery in Australia on the World Wide
Web. This can be accessed at
www.peachtreegallery.com
or
www.jeremyholton.com to view his latest paintings, exhibition
schedules and to download exhibition catalogues.
