Sorry, I came here to 'most controversial' to find images to denigrate (and there are plenty) but I had to comment on this one. What is controversial here? It's just very original and enjoyable to look at. It seems like an honest image and the tonal range is appropriate, and the meaning of this image is not obvious to me but if it's not obvious to you either, I applaud you for posting it.

This is a very interesting concept & a very well done composition. The lack of focus in the image may be a little much - one must really study the image to work out any actual representation. The contrasts and lighting are excellent & the texture is very nice as well.

Great stuff ! Hard to comment really, but it conveys a very special feeling. It reminds me of pictures I saw in some scientific books many, many years ago - of people subjected to a lot of g force. Quite scary, actually.
Still - would look great on my wall.
BTW My father used to say: "Don't be angry at people that are stupid, pity them".

I have looked at this a few times and like it, but more importantly I think it ought to be considered irrespective of personal like or dislike. I'm a bit shocked at the occassional abuse thrown up on this great art community website under 'critiques'. There ought to be room for a variety of image types, some technically polished and others that convey some emotion or meaning but not scientific precision.
This image is in this latter category and within this framework is evocative and powerful. The symbolism is different for each viewer but there's meaning here in my view. The image minimises our attention to a person's eye covered by a shell, recalling the harmony of the sea - not always calm but still allowing life to flourish big and small.
Thanks for uploading this and shame on those who abuse this site.
Michael

Thank you Michael, you are right that the site gets abused sometimes but I dont mind, I want the verbage to flow which ever way it wants to. I purposely made this out of focus to give the effect of the feeling within making the outside only peripherally evident. Does that make sense, Im not too good with words. You seem to understand.

Just pointing out that obsessing on thumbs and their color is foiblistic. I think that popularity contests are ripe for satire. See below for more info. mattthew

Silly Mattt, this would not be a slap in the face of my peers, it is just a personal assessment but I like your take on it, maybe that is what it is on an unconsious level.

Hehe, who knows what art may invoke, ya know I think you are awesome. You know this. I think the ppl that critique my critiques are just jealous cause I never crit their works.;) If they would invite some of the sparks red thumbs instill in their responses to their work they would improve as artists. Is it an abuse to try to forment dialog? Isn't that what art is about?

Yes it is very much so, and it is a skill that I must hone, you, my dear Matttty, are and expert and you inspire me with your almost Millerian grasp of verbage. Sigh, the obtuse and arid sigh of envy. I despise the thumb thingy so red is fine with me, so is green, my ego quivers though and I must stuff it. All my thumbs are 3G rendering them meaningless anyway,I knew what you were trying to say.
