Water colour pencils used on cartridge paper without any water used, seems to have come out brighter on the scan than the original. Not sure it falls into the category of sailing as it's a motor oat.

This is a good start but I think that this would be so much better if you had kept going. The majority of the white paper showing makes it feel unfinished. I love the colors though. Very warm. The composition is nice also. I would just continue layering the colored pencil until you can't see the white paper through. Nice work!

Looking again at it, you are probably right about the paper showing thruough. My idea was to create a gentle swell effect on the sea, but you are quite correct to much paper! the effect I was looking for is not there.

Cheers Gareth

I really like this, although it would have been nice to have a slightly bigger view! Compositionally, I kind of feel that this is a little stuck and rigid. Not a very good description, I admit, but that is how it feels. The vanishing point, (at least that's what I thin it is), is very central, and the boat has rather too obvious a relation to it. Also, the whole feeling is of mistiness and softness, and the boat and people are a little too sharply defined compared to the rest of the picture. All told though, really nice!

Thank you, glad you like it. I take yoru point about the composition, I dont really think I thought it through properly. As for the boat and people being too sharp I can see that now, my only excuse Is that it is a new medium for me (poor one I know). As for the size that's the biggest I could get with size restrictions LOL.

This watercolor shows a successful grouping of the colors. It makes however the impression of one something execution of lay and idea. Regards Gerhard
